About Mike Cale

Former CEO of Utility Partners of America

A Simpsonville, South Carolina-based executive, Mike Cale has driven results and otherwise excelled in multiple organizations over the course of his career, which began in the late 1970s. At that time, Mike Cale started navigating his way from a position as a retail grocery manager to that of a senior procurement manager for Fleming Companies, Inc.’s Phoenix Division, which generated approximately $1 billion annually.

For a 10-year period commencing in the late 1980s, Mike Cale worked for Boca Raton, Florida-headquartered Purity Wholesale Grocers (PWG), Inc., where he ultimately advanced to the position of executive president of sales and marketing. As such, he not only was responsible for developing customer relations and expanding the company’s sales team, but also increased annual sales from less than $100 million to $1.5 billion. Following his tenure with PWG, Mr. Cale relocated to South Carolina, where he established and for several years managed his own food distribution and arbitrage business.

In the mid 2000s, Mike Cale transitioned from food distribution, expanding his professional activities by purchasing Utility Partners of America (UPA), which builds, maintains, inspects, and upgrades utility infrastructure. In just four years as UPA’s CEO, he increased annual revenue from $2 million to $45 million, in part on account of custom routing and tracking software that optimized service-related efficiency.
